In my April 15th, 2015, blog post I mentioned that behavioral drugs, such as Ritalin and Adderall, sit on a continuum linking parents, kids, teachers, administrators, doctors, and drug companies. I also mentioned that psychology types were looking at the possibility that a new attention deficit diagnosis was needed: sluggish cognitive tempo (SCT). This article was written by Aaron Kaufman and appeared over at Elite Daily—The Voice of Generation-Y. I’m glad that more and more articles are being written about this topic: the legal (but not necessarily ethical or moral) drugging of our kids. Give this article a read. Keep in mind though that to tackle this problem, the entire continuum linking parents, kids, teachers, administrators, doctors, and drug companies must be considered. No small task.
